Youth Drawing in The House of Black and White

This post is a series of black and white scenes in and around the house.  The entrance to the kitchen is always a great place to have coffee on a weekend morning. Stacks of towels stand ready at all times on the lanai for those who decide to take a dip in the pool.  My bathroom is truly one of the prettiest bathrooms I have ever seen (if i do say so myself). Bobby outdid himself on it.  I will definitely post more photos of it one day.  The photos of the Youth Drawing were taken in the Living Room.

A Gift from Bobby

Bobby gave me this paperweight for Christmas and I absolutely love it.  The matted photo is of my sister and I when we were kids. It always makes me smile.

Purple Clouds Painting in the Great Room

These photos were taken in the Great Room of the house.  The table in the top photo is one of a pair we built and then layered with fabric.  The antique lamp is one of a pair found at a local antique store.  The pair of brass fighting cocks were also found locally. The detail on them is fantastic.

A House of White Trim

When Richard and Bobby first bought the house, there was not one piece of trimwork or moldings, inside or out. Two years later, thanks to Bobby's design and carpentry skills, Richard's impeccable eye and a lot of wall painting done by me, the house is now completely made over. Here are some examples of the work that was done. The top photo is of part of the lanai, where we spend a great deal of time. We rebuilt and painted the columns and soffits. The second photo is of one of the window seats in the Living Room. They are as comfortable as they appear. The next three are of the kitchen. The cabinetry, columns and shelving were all designed, built and lit by us. We enjoy cooking, so all of the dishes, serving trays and meat domes pictured are in constant use.

Tree Painting in the Great Room

We tend to use the Great Room the most during the winter months, whether reading by the fire,  Bobby practicing his piano or me drawing in a corner I have claimed as a mini studio.  The top photo shows that corner of the room.  Bobby found the antique drafting table online and we refinished it.  It is great color and size.

Classical Head Drawing in Bedroom

These photos were taken in my bedroom and are of a grouping of some of my favorite things. They sit on a shelf made from parts of a piano left by the previous owners of the house. The framed music manuscript is a hymn written by an ancestor in the 1800s.  The lighting in this room is beautiful.

Morning Sky Painting in the Kitchen

The photos show the painting hanging on a wall in the kitchen flanked by a pair of black and white matted photographs. Everything looks good hanging on this wall. It was designed, built and lit by Bobby.
