A Texas Halloween

Well, we are finally getting settled into the new house.  Halloween has come and gone.  Above are just a few pictures of the house all spooked up.  I really did go a bit overboard this year.  Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of it at night, all lit up.  It really was something else.  Also, there are no pictures of the cocoon men we made, but trust me, they were a bit frightening peeking out the window and crawling across the yard.
Hopefully I will be better at posting now that my new computer (thank you Bobby and Richard!) is set up and ready to go and things have calmed now a bit.  Happy Holiday Season to you all!

Dallas, Texas

Well, we are all now in Dallas.  The photo above was taken on the plane we rode in three weeks ago from Fort Myers to Dallas.  We are all settling in and are finally, for the most part, unpacked.  The last three weeks have flown by and yet it seems like it has been months since we lived in Fort Myers.  The house here is beautiful, the neighborhood is gorgeous and the city is so much fun. Although we all miss our friends, regular haunts and the house, I do think Dallas may be a better fit for us all.

Portrait in Gold

I recently mounted, matted and framed in gold molding a portrait study that I did a number of years ago.  I have always loved it, but could never decide how exactly to frame it.  Since the piece is really a sketch done with paint, I decided to go this way with it.  I love the result.  The photographs of the piece were taken without glass in the frame.  It is normally under glass.

Gold Portrait
The mounted canvas on board measures 24"W X 30"H.  Matted, framed and under glass the piece measures 35" W X 41"H.  Pricing and shipping information is available upon request.

Remembering Christmas at the House

Our final day here in SW Florida is rapidly approaching.  The closer it gets, the more excited I become and the sadder I get at leaving the House.  We have had a great time here, especially during the Holidays.  Above are some photographs taken last Christmas.  The Great Room was beautiful with the tree and presents.  And the reindeer, well he speaks for himself.  Bobby cut the pattern out of six pieces of plywood and I had the job of painting it.  It is huge and will be coming with us to Texas.  The last couple of photographs are intended to show the scale of the reindeer as well as to show one of the things I will miss most about this area, which is the ability to go without a shirt year round.

Good-bye House and Hello Mike

Well, the house has sold and it looks like we will be leaving Fort Myers the first week of September. It is definitely a bittersweet time for us.  We will be leaving with lots of great memories and two new family members.  Vincent, who I have posted a photo of before, and Mike, our newest member. We found Vincent in the parking lot of our gym. Bobby found Mike, just last week, darting through rush hour traffic at a very busy intersection here in town.  The photo above is him exploring the top of my desk.  He is adorable and fits right in.

A Sea Anemone

I have been having a great time drawing marine life lately.  This drawing, A Sea Anemone, is the latest.  In the top photo it is sitting on the shelf in my bedroom surrounded by some of my favorite things.  The frame is one that I had on another drawing.  That drawing and it's new frame are in the last photo.

A Sea Anemone Drawing
The graphite drawing measures 12"W X 18"H. Matted under glass and in the antique gold leafed wood frame the piece measures 28 1/2"W X 34 1/2"H. Pricing and shipping information can be found at https://www.etsy.com/listing/104386399/a-sea-anemone

A Reposting, of sorts.

I have posted this painting before but am doing it again.  I changed the frame on it to all black instead of the previous gold  leaf and black.  For some reason, I can never take a photograph of it that shows how rich the color is in person. It really is rather vibrant.

Lakeview Painting
The oil on canvas painting measures 24"W X 36"H. In the custom black and gold wood frame the piece measures 29"W X 41"H.  Pricing and shipping information is available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/104285257/lakeview-painting

The House That Bobby Built

The House is on the market now.  I hope whoever purchases it enjoys it and loves it half as much as we have.  It is a great house and has been a wonderful home.

Goodbye Richard

Well, it is all official now.  Richard has moved to Dallas.  The house is not the same without him.  We miss him terrible, but will see him soon.

The Worst Blogger Ever

Okay, it is official.  I am the worst blogger ever.

However, in my own defense things have been a little hectic.  The above photograph was taken a couple of weeks before I got so distracted.  A friend and I spent the weekend at a resort in Naples.  The photograph was taken from the balcony of our room.  It was gorgeous there.

Since that time one of the cats, Fred, went missing.  He was gone for four days and it was horrible.  Bobby found him one street over after days of searching and hoping.  He is a very good cat and we are all very grateful for his return.

Another thing that has happened is that Richard has taken another job.  Which means, we will be leaving Fort Myers and heading west to Dallas.  Although we all are sad to leave the house, our friends and the amazing weather, we are very excited about the start of a new adventure.

I promise a couple of more posts in the next couple of days.

The Seashell Drawing Times Two

After the Jellyfish Drawing, I decided to stay with the marine-life theme and draw a piece for a rattan frame I've had for years.  I finished the Seashell Drawing last week.  I liked the finished piece so much, I had a small run of prints made of it.   The top four photographs are of the original drawing framed, matted and behind glass in the rattan frame. The bottom three photographs are of the first print in a gold frame, matted and behind glass.  While the original is signed on the back, the print is signed on the front with the run number.

Seashell Drawing and Print: The overall size of the original drawing framed is 26"W x 31"H.  Pricing, shipping and additional information  for the original drawing is available at  https://www.etsy.com/listing/102152010/seashell-drawing?ref=v1_other_2.
The overall size of the framed print is 22"W x 26"H.  Pricing, shipping and additional information is available for the print at https://www.etsy.com/listing/102152401/seashell-print.
