Blue and White

I have always loved the color combination of blue and white.  Luckily, Richard has a passion for blue and white porcelain and it is scattered throughout the house.  A number of photos previously posted have included some of them.  Today's post is just some images with the colors blue and white that have caught my eye recently.

Lying Male Painting in the Back Hallway

I thought I would post some photos of a painting that I think illustrates what I was talking about in the previous post about drawings. Although done in acrylic on canvas, to me, the Lying Male Painting always feels more like a drawing than a painting. It was done rather quickly and has a loose sketch-like quality to it. It has always been one of my favorites.

The hallway that it hangs at the end of leads to the back of the House. As with everything else in the house, the cabinetry and woodwork were all designed, built and lit by Bobby with a little assist from Richard and me. The French Doors on the left lead out to the lanai and pool. The cabinets on the right are actually quite brilliant. The upper sections house cleaning supplies and some extra linens. The lower parts with the screen doors are cages for the four dogs. Although they may appear small in the photos, they are actually very deep, well ventilated and have plenty of room for the pups. Like I said, brilliant.

Lying Male Painting
The acrylic on canvas painting measures 22"W X 28"H. In frame, the piece measures 29"W X 35"H.  Pricing and shipping information is available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/93624814/lying-male-painting

Drawings Around the House

I have always loved to draw and drawings. I consider myself be a drawer, even when painting.  I tend to paint in the same way I use a piece of graphite or pencil.  I see objects in a linear way, which to me is more drawing-like than painterly.

Above are photos of just a few of the drawings we have around the house.  All are done by me except for two.  The drawing hanging on the bookcase and the one on the mirror are by my friend Ben Smith.  He is an Atlanta based artist.  He is fantastic!

The Dead of Winter in SW Florida

This one is for Richard.  The man loves anything monogrammed.

We live in a beautiful neighborhood where the homeowners take a lot of pride in their homes and yards.  Of course, being in SW Florida. the flora is magnificent even in February.  Here are a just few photos of what I see on my daily walks with the dogs and a couple from around the House.

Even though I am no nature photographer by any stretch (or regular one for that matter), even my photographs cannot ruin the beauty of these plants.
